About

What this site is

A Missouri reference for one narrow question, who deals with a dead animal, attached to a phone number for the cases where the answer is that no public service will.

Why it exists

We found no statewide Missouri rule on who removes a dead wild animal from private property, so the answer is spread across city codes, county pages and state agency guidance. The City of St. Louis takes reports only for animals in the right-of-way. St. Louis County tells owners to bag it or hire a private service. Kansas City's code provides for collecting a small animal bagged at the curb, Independence charges $50 to pick up a small dead animal under its 2026-2027 fee schedule but does not handle wildlife, and unincorporated Jackson County gives a property owner 48 hours.

The locations page and the guides put that in one place. Each statement was taken from the agency's own page or rule, and the date it was read is recorded on the sources page.

How it makes money

Missouri Dead Animal Removal sells advertising and routes the calls that advertising brings in. It is neither a wildlife company nor a removal contractor. No carcass is collected, carried or disposed of under this name, and there is no premises, no vehicle, no field staff and no permit held behind it.

Where an independent operator covers an address, that operator does the work, sets the price and invoices the customer directly, and answers for their own insurance, permits and disposal route. The people who call are never charged by this site.

What it does not claim

  • No coverage claim. Calls route by ZIP where an operator covers the address, and whether one covers yours is settled on the call.
  • No prices. The independent operator who covers an address sets the price, so any figure here would be invented.
  • No arrival window, no same-day guarantee, no round-the-clock claim.
  • No licensing, insurance or certification claims of any kind. We found no Missouri license specific to removing dead animals, which is not the same as finding that none is needed, and live-wildlife control and pesticide work are regulated separately. None of that is a claim this site could make about anybody.
  • No reviews and no rating. Any work is done by independent operators, not by this site.

When we say it is not your job

Some calls belong to somebody else: a city street, a county road, a state highway, a small animal Kansas City's code says it will collect from the curb, or a deer in a Manchester yard. This site points those to the right agency rather than treating them as paid work, on purpose. Charging for something a public agency would have done is not a business worth running.

Corrections

The sources behind the site's factual claims, and the date each was read, are listed at sources. Agencies change their pages. If something here is out of date or wrong, say so through the contact form and it will be checked and fixed.
